#treefollowing, Acer mono, Acer pictum, autumn colour, Bute Park, I'm following a tree, tree following
I think, like much of Britain’s flora and fauna (and its human population), my tree is suffering from the late arrival of warmer spring weather as not much has changed with it during March: the leaf buds haven’t developed much further, no leaves have burst open, and it’s still looking very skeletal. Warmer temperatures are forecast for next week so, fingers crossed, that gives everything a kick-start.
In the meantime, I thought I would give you a little taste of the delights to come later in the year. While I don’t have any photos of my tree in summer green, I do have a photo, taken in October 2015, of this incredible Acer pictum (Acer mono) resplendent in its glorious autumn finery. Something to look forward to, for sure!

Obviously in Cardiff you are sharing the same weather as me! It’s a bit nippy this weekend, but they are promising warmer temperatures next week (20C?)
By the way, I went to the Cardiff RHS Show yesterday and from the top end of the ground you can see the dawn redwood you followed a while back. I thought of you.
I hope your Acer eventually has another autumn as great as the one you picture.
All the best 🙂

Aw, thanks, Pat. Dawn is a lovely tree. I do keep an eye on her still.
I’ve seen those autumn colours on Mono for 2 years so fingers crossed I get there at the right time this year. That colour is part of the reason I chose the tree.

I have to say I’m getting more and more impatient for spring and to see some green again. Wish it could hurry up!

I think we’re all feeling it, Erika. Our temperatures are meant to go up a bit next week, which should see some change, I think. 🙂
