I enjoyed a lovely long meander around Cardiff’s Bute Park on the weekend, strolled the riverside paths, strode along the towering lime avenue, and scuffed through the occasional deep drift of autumn leaves. It was magical! I took a ton of photos, as I always do, and when I was editing them later that evening, I realised I had one scene that was almost a perfect fit for an image I took last year. In fact, it was exactly one year, one month and one day ago. These are those two images, the oldest first.

Deja vu – or should that be deja view? Happy coincidence either way and the leaf colour variation is interesting -I think this year’s warmer drier weather is responsible for the speedy onset of leaf-turn, haven’t we had a stunning autumn?

It’s been fabulous, Theresa. So dry and some lovely crisp days now. Long walks on days like these are just perfect!

I wish I had your way with words – and photos for that matter…

That’s amazing!! You should go back when it’s snowing and take a picture at the exact same spot! 🙂

Well, if we ever get snow, I certainly will. It rarely snows in Cardiff, which is actually a bit of a disappointmnet for a Kiwi.

Really! I didn’t know that! We don’t get snow here either… I miss it! ❄

This year looks more advanced in the autumnal colours. Love this comparison.

The colours seem to have turned very quickly this year. Thanks!

Now until I read which was which I would have put the lusher (is that a true word) to have been this years, associated with the milder weather we’ve had. But on reflection, Laszlo years autumn was wetter and this year much drier. Could the drier autum have caused more stress and less “lushness”.? Or is of the light? Too many questions – I’ll have to have another whiskey!

Oh, the tangled words we write after a whisky and with auto-correct turned on!
I think I need another year or three experiencing the local climate and seasonal changes before I can make any kind of educated response to your questions – unless I also have a whisky, and then I could spout all sorts of highly believable ‘truisms’! 🙂
