Wouldn’t you know it? After finishing yesterday’s post about wildflowers and trees currently in bloom, I went for a walk and found several Blackthorn / Sloe bushes / trees in flower. They’ve probably been flowering for a week or more but I hadn’t walked the path they were growing along β a reminder to keep mixing up my walking routes. What blossom have you seen in your area?

No wild plants yet but the Witch Hazel in my garden has been floweringβfor a couple of weeks and the scent is fabulous. Also on my lane walks there are a couple of winter flowering Viburnums – I stop, close my eyes and breathe in the scent from the sparse flowers, and summer blooms again!

Ah, I can almost smell them from your description. Scents are so evocative, aren’t they? π

It’s certainly cheering when the weather is gloomy and wet, which seems to be much of the time at the moment. π

Hi Paul. I’m on the south Wales coast, and this is at Cosmeston Lakes Country Park, just west of Cardiff. π
