Say hello to Mrs Roul-roul, also known as the Crested partridge, the Red-crowned wood partridge, the Green wood quail, the Green wood partridge and, scientifically, Rollulus rouloul. She’s cousin to the pheasant family and her kin hail originally from the lowland rainforests of South-east Asia but this particular little beauty spends her days in the Rainforest Biome at the Eden Project in Cornwall. Sadly, her man friend was not as willing to have his photo taken.

A beautifully curvaceous bird, such an unusual colour too.
She was a beauty. I guess she blends in in a tropical jungle setting.
I love the Eden Project but it is a few years since I was last there. I expect there have been a lot of changes as it seems to be ever evolving.
To be perfectly honest, Joyce, I wasn’t that impressed though I think I’ve been spoilt by living in and visiting some exotic places. But I found the displays very static, things looking tatty and actually broken – I definitely didn’t think it was worth the very high (£25) entry fee.
Oh, that is sad. Lots of places I visit these days seem to be deteriorating, presumably because they are unable to keep up with the maintenance, either because of cost or lack of manual assistance.
Thank you again for the beautiful, the startling, the reminders of Wonderful!
You’re very welcome, and thank you for your kind comment. 🙂
What a beautiful bird! 🙂
And quite tame, too, Val. I guess they’ve got used to the thousands of people who pass through the Biome each day.
Yes, I’m sure they must have.
These are wonderful, Annie! The green colouring is stunning.
Thanks, Pete. Yes, she was like a little emerald jewel. 🙂
What a cutie! Nice shots.
She was a little sweetie. Thanks, Belinda.
