In Welsh the Blue tit is Titw Tomos Las. Titw presumably translates as tit and las is blue but I’ve no idea what tomos means. If there are any Welsh speakers out there who can explain the name, I’d appreciate hearing from you in the comments.

Hi Annie, The familiar English name for Blue Tit is “Tom-tit”. Titw Tomos Las is almost an exact translation to the Welsh. In Welsh the subject always comes first then the adjective or descriptive word, so Titw Tomos Las is Tit Tomos Blue. Tomos is the Welsh spelling of Thomas. Gareth
