My 2025 countdown finishes with one of the cutest little life forms that I’ve encountered many times this year, the Zebra spider (blogged on 8 March).

Happy 2026 to all my wonderful followers and fellow Nature lovers!
I hope the coming year brings you many fabulous encounters with the flora and fauna that surround you, and the peace and calmness that spending time in Nature can bring us all.
This is a rather belated Happy New Year and thank you for all your posts through 2025. Your A-Z countdown is very clever! My wife Lyn and I enjoy reading your posts every day, and we learn so much. Although I do BTO and Wildlife Trust surveys of birds as a volunteer, there is so much I have still to learn about birds and all of the natural world. I started with trees as my first passion (I’m a painter of trees) but that has grown out in every direction – pun intended.
I’ve just come back from a visit to my 94 year old father. I’ve mentioned this to you before but wanted to say again how much he appreciates your posts too. He spends most of his time in his arm chair with his ipad these days and reads your posts every day, often commenting on them to our family by email.
I’m so glad that your move has worked out so well, and you are now able to travel further afield. I wish you all the best for 2026 with lots of wildlife and nature encounters.
Warm regards,
Richard – and Lyn Bavin

Very best wishes for 2026 to you and Lyn, and special greetings to your Dad! Ax
