This Common wasp (Vespula vulgaris), which was enjoying the warm sunshine on the front of the house this morning, seemed to be as curious about me as I was about it.
(Yes, the windows are a mess – I live in a flat in a Grade II listed building that’s well over 100 years old, and the windows, most of which still have Victorian glass in them, with all its imperfections, are in need of major repair. It’s a long and ongoing story.)
At least you can still see out of your windows, two panes of mine have ‘blown’ and I can’t see through them, such a nuisance.

Ah, yes, a friend had that problem in a large front window – cost a fortune to replace. Mine are single glaze and ill-fitting, so noisy and cold, depending on which way the wind is blowing. BUT my two large windows are also a joy – huge semi-circular beasts that let in a ton of light. So, good and bad but definitely not ugly. 🙂
