Isn’t it lovely to see ladybirds again? There were at least eight 7-spot ladybirds on these freshly sprouted Nettle plants, possibly more mini-beasties hiding under the leaves, but I wasn’t going to get stung looking for them.

There has been a noticeable re-emergence of ladybirds in these parts too over the past few weeks. Whenever the sun comes out, they appear in huge numbers on my box bushes and a very suburban small conifer. It must be sunbathing, as they are only found on the sunnier sections and never in the shade.

‘Huge numbers’ of ladybirds sounds wonderful. I had no idea they were such sun-worshippers.
