surely a seed pod is for all families of plants, not just leguminous. what about the poppy pods?

As I indicated, my definition came from the Oxford Dictionary. I think we all use words for the various parts of plants that are not necessarily botanically correct. I am not a botanist so I can only rely on more expert sources.
Oh, and my wildflower ID book calls a poppy pod a capsule. 🙂
