I think you’ll agree this female Orange-tip butterfly has nailed this camouflage scenario.
She kept completely and utterly still, even when I got within a couple of inches of her for some macro photos. Amazing effort!

The camouflage also works on garlic mustard

Yes, indeed, and, if this camouflage is intentional, then Garlic mustard is really a much better comparison, as that’s one of the caterpillar’s main larval plants.

Have only seen one female so far but loads of males – we have plenty of garlic mustard and cuckoo flower waiting for them too (Hailey Park)

I spotted another female on today’s walk so I’m sure you’ll see them soon, Penny – but less wind and more sunshine would be good. 🙂
