Our warm sunny Easter weekend weather is bringing out the butterflies again. During yesterday’s long walk I saw Speckled wood, Peacock, Holly Blue, Brimstone, Comma, Small white, and, my very first Orange-tips, my eighth species of the year, both males and this beautiful female.

What a splendid photo, even has the dew on the petals too. There were a few orange tips out today up here as well – my first of the year too. The local Sand Martins have arrived back over the past few days. They nest in the banks of the Esk, around five miles before it reaches the Solway.

Thanks. I’m glad you’ve also got Orange-tips and now Sand martins – the joys of Spring returning to us all. 🙂
